Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center wants to congratulate Daniel Kebede on being our quarter 2 Daisy Award Winner. Daniel, who works as a mental health nurse, was honored during Nurses Week.
The person who nominated Daniel was a patient at our behavioral health unit, the Pavilion. When the patient was first brought to the Pavilion, they were terrified and anxious.
In a hand written letter they said Daniel's kindness and compassion made them comfortable and helped relieve their anxiety. It was only after Daniel calmed them that they were able to get the help they needed.
The patient went on to say the way Daniel related to them was more than a nurse, it felt more like a family member caring for them.
“I can tell [Daniel] sincerely cares about the lives of his patients and this is not ‘just a job’,” the nomination also said.
The patient finished the letter by saying the care that he received from Daniel extended to his home after he left the Pavilion and finished by saying, “Daniel is the best caregiver I’ve ever had.”
Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center want to thank Daniel Kebede his kindness that truly left a lasting impression on this patient.
