Multiple Southern Hills units honored during "Unit of Distinction" awards
Southern Hills Hospital is celebrating multiple HCA Unit of Distinction Awards and multiple honorable mentions. There are roughly 100,000 nurses across HCA and the Unit of Distinction Awards celebrates the top-performing nurses and their units that are raising the bar for patient care.
Southern Hills Hospital had two Unit of Distinction Winners, Ortho/Neuro and IMC plus an additional five honorable mentions: ICU, PPCU, geriatric behavioral health, adolescent behavioral health and adult behavioral health.
"At Southern Hills we have a saying 'Care Like Family' and these awards show that's not just something we say, it's something we live every day," said Chief Nursing Officer at Southern Hills Hospital, Blake Romero.
As Unit of Distinction winners our IMC and Ortho/Neuro departments rank among the top five percent of all HCA Healthcare medical surgical, critical care, emergency services, surgical services, behavioral health, women’s and children’s nursing units, pediatrics/PICU and inpatient rehabilitation units. A special congratulations to our Ortho unit who is a back to back honoree. Last year they were an honorable mention and this year excelled to a become Unit of Distinction winner.
Even being an honorable mention is an incredible accomplishment. As an honorable mention, our ICU, PPCU and behavioral health units are among the top six to ten percent of all HCA Healthcare Units.
That means Southern Hills Hospital had seven units in the top 10 percent of HCA’s 2200 nursing units across the country.
