Southern Hills Hospital announces Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification
Las Vegas, NV — Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center announces that it has received certification from DNV as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the highest level of competence for treating severe stroke events.
Today marks a pivotal moment as we proudly announce our Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification. Making us the third hospital in southern Nevada and the only hospital in the southwest to achieve this prestigious designation!
Achieving this certification shows our commitment to excellence and helps demonstrate to the community that we are equipped to provide the highest level of care for patients experiencing complex strokes.
This achievement wouldn't have been possible without numerous individuals and organizations' dedication and tireless efforts. Among them, our physicians, staff, and EMS partners have been instrumental in ensuring stroke patients' timely and efficient transportation to our facility.
"With stroke care, you must have the best clinicians and resources, but also the ability to act organizationally with extreme efficiency because of the time-critical nature of these events," says Alexis Mussi, CEO of Southern Hills Hospital. "This certification from DNV validates all the effort we have put into this program and ensuring the health and safety of our patients."
The DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education – and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.
“Achieving certification shows commitment to excellence,” says Kelly Proctor, President of DNV Healthcare USA Inc. “And it helps demonstrate to the community that you are performing at the highest level.”
Comprehensive Stroke Centers are typically the largest and best-equipped hospitals within a given geographical area that can treat any kind of stroke or respective complications. In a growing number of states, Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification determines which facility a patient should be taken to for the most appropriate and advanced care.
