“Southern Hills Hospital is proud to support the youth in our community,” said Adam Rudd, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Southern Hills Hospital. “We are in the business of caring for people, both inside and outside of our hospital walls. The High School to Healthcare Scholarship program is an extension of our giving back to our community.”

Rudd added: “By investing in these talented and intelligent students, we are awarding their hard work, perseverance and supporting their desire to become our future healthcare leaders. We need their expertise to care for us all someday.”

Scholarship recipients are from the following high schools: Basic Academy, CSN West, Rancho, Sierra Vista, Virgin Valley, West Career and Technical Academy and West Prep Academy.

Southern Hills Hospital created the High School to Healthcare Scholarship program in 2014, when it partnered with The Public Education Foundation. The scholarship funds were a result of the hospital’s Balloon Festival, which occurs annually to raise money for a local non-profit. Funds were raised through event sponsorships and vendor fees. In 2015, the event raised approximately $38,000, which was added to the remaining balance from the 2014 event.
