BACKGROUND:

Nevada, like the rest of the country, continues to face a severe shortage of registered nurses. A 2022 call to action by the Nevada Health Workforce Research Center revealed that the state needs more than 4,000 additional registered nurses just to meet the national average for population-to-RN ratio. With 150+ students already enrolled, the new Galen campus in Las Vegas aims to create a steady pipeline of nurses, helping alleviate the shortage while providing high-quality patient care across the region.

With more than 38,000 square feet, the Las Vegas campus is one of the most unique educational facilities dedicated solely to nursing. Developing clinical judgment and reasoning are paramount in Galen’s nursing degree programs to help better prepare nursing students to enter the community workforce with confidence, preparedness, and compassion. The Las Vegas campus boasts modern clinical learning laboratories equipped with patient-simulation mannequins. Working individually and in groups under the supervision of an experienced professional nurse educator, students practice the skills fundamental to patient care in an encouraging, engaging learning environment.
